Puff the Magic Dragon

There are always speculation about the references to drugs in the song, "Puff the Magic Dragon", but as with many songs in the 1960's, we read far too much into it.  
If you listen to the song and the words, it's actually about a friendship between a boy and his dragon friend, and about growing up.  It ends quite sadly.

I guess this is my interpretation of the song, although Puff's friend is a young girl here.
